  • Marie-Hélène Gorisse presented "Jain conceptions of non-cognition: Comparing Dharmakīrti and Māṇikyanandi’s classifications of inferential evidence", on the 5th International Dharmakīrti Conference, Heidelberg, 26th-30th August 2014.

  • Eva De Clercq presented "Śūrpaṇakhā in the Jain Rāmāyaṇas" at the conference "Women in crisis: the regional Ramayanas", Oxford University (12th-13th July 2014).

  • Tine Vekemans and Tillo Detige participated in the conference "Religion as Resource - Local and Global Discourses" at Tübingen University (18th-20th July 2014), presenting papers on respectively "Negotiating Jainism in the diaspora: An exploration of the Jain e-diaspora" and "Religion as resource, resource as reflex: The ascetic ideal in Digambara Jainism".

          

  • Samani Charitraprajna, Vice-chancellor of Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (Ladnun, India) visited the UGhent Department of Languages & Cultures and gave lecture on "Life of a Jain nun in the 21st century"  on 9th May 2014.

Papers by Ghent University Jaina Studies' members Eva De Clercq and Tillo Detige, on "Biographies of Ṛṣabha and the Rise of Śatruñjaya" and "Singing the Praises of the Bhaṭṭārakas: Hagiographic Writings on North-Indian Digambara Pontiffs" respectively.
